ABSTRACT
Systematic reviews and meta-analyses have been increasingly recognized for their potential value in pre-clinical research, but applications not extensively explored behavioral neuroscience. In this work, we studied protein synthesis inhibition, a classic intervention used to disrupt fear learning, reconsolidation, extinction rodents, explore how can identify moderators of its effect. We initially performed separate different injection sites target sessions evaluate the effect various scenarios. Heterogeneity was further investigated by multilevel meta-regression models aggregating sites, with article or research group as additional levels. detected robust effects inhibitors on training extinction, possibly due lower number studies latter. Our analyses identified some well-established moderators, such timing reexposure duration. However, other factors proposed boundary conditions memory age strength, were associated size. While our results point consolidating findings from literature, believe that associations suggested data should ideally be verified well-powered, rigorous confirmatory experiments.
