ABSTRACT
Dementia is increasing in the world which a major cause of disability and dependence elderly. This causes elderly can not do their daily activities so often live nursing home. It important to know factors associated with dementia prevent treat appropriate interventions. The objective this study was identify demographic disease history among homes. research method cross sectional study. Sample were recruited from three homes located Bandung Garut using purposive sampling technique for a-3 month period (n=163). Data collected questionnaire consisting data, history, MMSE (Mini Mental State Examination). analysis data performed chi-square test, fisher logistic regression analysis. In term its association dementia, low education had higher odd ratio (OR: 5.90, 95% CI: 2.02-17.20, p=0.001) than unmarried status 4.78, 1.23-18.52, p=0.024) stroke 0.23, 0.06-0.88, p=0.032). However, diabetes mellitus identified as confounding variable 0.10, 95%CI: 0.01-1.01, p=0.051). conclusion, education, status, stroke, predictor recommended include effective treatment could be form health about management diabetes, physical activity, improvement nutritional adequate, social loneliness.
