ABSTRACT
Background: Prevention of foodborne diseases is a fundamental goal for public health and industries engaged in food preparation distribution. The correct procedure to ensure an effective prevention consists essentially microbiological monitoring enumeration indicator microorganisms faecal contamination at critical control points along the producing procedures. Here, we propose new biosensor, called FoodBioTimerAssay (FBTA), rapid reliable detection Escherichia coli as surface samples. Methods: A total 122 samples were analysed using both experimental FBTA Reference method. employs FBTM medium counts bacteria through microbial metabolism measure: time required colour switch (red-to-yellow) FBTM, due E. metabolism, correlated initial bacterial concentration. Results: results showed overall agreement percentage with method equal 97.54%. Discrepancies concerned three (1 2 samples). Moreover, perform was 3-fold shorter than one. Conclusions: may be considered useful tool Therefore, successfully employed risk analysis diseases.
