Multifunctional living mulches for weeds control in organic apple orchards

ABSTRACT
A trial assessing the suitability of multifunctional living mulch to maintain soil and reduce weed infestation was carried out in an organic apple orchard years 2019-2020. Perennial plants (Alchemilla vulgaris, Fragaria vesca, Mentha piperita) annual crops (Tropaeolum majus Cucurbita maxima) were grown rows trees. The weeds number coverage tree assessed. Regardless species utilized, resulted be mostly covered by perennial such as: Equisetum arvense Taraxacum officinale Lamium purpureum, Stellaria media, Galinsoga parviflora, Capsella bursa-pastoris Poa annua, which most common also for natural cover used as control. However, all limited M. piperita, F. vesca T. strongly growth. It is concluded that can a feasible practice manage on orchards.
