Diacryloyl Derivative of Mannitol – Synthesis and Application in Gelcasting of Al2O3-ZrO2 Composites

ABSTRACT
The aim of research was the elaboration synthesis new organic monomer applicable in gelcasting.The substance named 3,4-di-acryloyl-D-mannitol which contains two acryloyl groups and four hydroxyl its molecule has been synthesized.The then applied preparation Al 2 O 3 -ZrO composites by gelcasting subsequent sintering.Rheological properties ceramic suspensions have examined, as well green sintered bodies.SEM observations allowed to determine distribution zirconia grains alumina matrix.Density, Vickers hardness fracture toughness ZTA measured.The monomer, that is diacryloyl derivative mannitol, less sensitive oxygen inhibition than commonly used commercially available 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate.
