ABSTRACT
Of 82 dogs with thyroid carcinoma seen between January 1981 and October 1989, 20 had freely movable tumors without evidence of metastasis were treated surgical excision alone. Uncensored mean median survival times for these both 20.5 months. Kaplan-Meier analysis, which censors nontumor-related deaths lost to follow-up, indicated that time was greater than 36 Seven died tumor-related causes: 2 because or local recurrence the tumor, 5 treatment-related complications (eg, laryngeal paralysis, hypocalcemia, tracheostomy complications). Eight unrelated causes; 1 dog follow-up at 26 months after surgery; 3 alive 19, 24, surgery. Cause death could not be determined in remaining dog. Long-term is possible following removal mobile carcinomas dogs.
