ABSTRACT
Abstract Objective —To identify prognostic factors in a large group of dogs with subcutaneous or intramuscular hemangiosarcoma (HSA) both. Design —Multi-institutional retrospective cohort study. Animals —71 HSA. Procedures —Medical records affected were reviewed. The following evaluated for an association outcome: dog age and sex, clinical signs, anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutrophilia, tumor stage at diagnosis, achievement complete excision, involvement, presence gross disease, recurrence, treatment. Results —Of the 71 cases identified, 16 (29%) had involvement. For all dogs, median time to progression overall survival (OST) 116 172 days, respectively; 25% survived 1 year. Univariate analysis identified signs metastasis age, size, use any surgery, disease as predictors OST. There was no significant difference between respect type Multivariate confirmed that adequate local control, diameter ≤ 4 cm, significantly associated Conclusions Clinical Relevance —Subcutaneous HSA remains heterogeneous tumors generally carries poor prognosis. Adequate control smaller may provide best chance long-term survival.
