Adaptation of Polish regions to the challenges and opportunities of the Belt and Road Initiative

ABSTRACT
Abstract The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is an international project focused on creating a network of infrastructure strengthening trade links, primarily between China Europe. Transport goods within the BRI conducted through one maritime six rail economic corridors, which (New Eurasian Land Bridge) crosses territory Poland. This article covers issues related to impact regions participating countries aims determine position Podlaskie voivodeship compared other Polish voivodeships in BRI. To achieve this aim, multi-stage study was conducted, including design set quantitative factors determining BRI, evaluation importance during expert study, collection normalisation data, comparative analysis factors. Research results show that, given adopted methodology, ranked 11th out 16 terms its article’s findings contribute discussion development opportunities region context. They also motivate comprehensive research strategy for widest possible inclusion BRI’s activities provide important stimulus region’s development.
