ABSTRACT
Japanese teachers are mentally and physically burdened with various work stressors. This cross-sectional study examined the relationship between depressive symptoms perceived individual level occupational stress including role problems among schoolteachers. included 1,006 working in public schools a city. The version of Zung's Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) was used to evaluate symptoms, Generic Job Stress Questionnaire three measures social support. Subjects SDS scores more than 50 were categorized into "depressive group." We using multiple logistic regression analyses. A total 202 (20.1%) belonged group. found that high ambiguity, conflict, quantitative workload, low support from family or friends significantly related symptoms. To moderate ambiguity conflict experienced by teachers, it is necessary clarify priority order teachers' work. Furthermore, reduce workload focusing on content setting education itself.
