Relactation in lactation failure and low milk supply

ABSTRACT
The objective of the study was to determine causes lactation failure (LF), factors affecting relactation in mothers having low milk supply (LMS) and LF, know success rate by proper counselling positive support group.It a prospective hospital-based conducted tertiary care referral hospital with their biological infants less than 4 months age, who were admitted LF some breastfeeding (BF) related problems.Mothers advised for frequent BF position good attachment under supervision trained experts group.Lactogogue used few mothers.There 64 LMS, out them 45 (70.3%) between age 21-35 years.Maximum (n = 51, 79.69%) below 6 weeks age; 32 (78.04%) infants, artificial feeding started within 15 days postnatal life.Commonest cause mother's misconception insufficient 25, 39%).Relactation possible 100% mothers.Complete 29 (85.29%)mothers when <25 years 38 (86.36%) <6 weeks.Chances complete less, duration more infant fed bottle (62.96%).We found no difference use lactogogue.Relactation (may be partial) continuous from family members health workers.
