ABSTRACT
In this role-playing case study, students will learn about the HeLa cell line and its origins while examining multiple perspectives surrounding uses. The goal of study is for to use guided questions analyze different points view such as researchers, family members, center directors, contemporary scientists. Students assume pre-designated roles prepare short presentations a panel their peers arrive at decision regarding further cells. This may be completed in one 75-minute lesson or over two-hour lab period. To accomplish this, divided into three parts including: 1) individual pre-class research homework; 2) in-class group work sharing information among class; 3) an written post-class reflection. Ultimately, are expected consider formulate informed perspective address question: Should continued cells permitted scientific our university? Primary image: Merged brightfield green fluorescent image Histone H2B-Green Fluorescent Protein expressing Cell Line (Millipore Cat. # SCC117). highlights several phases mitosis well polyploidy Scale bar = 20 μm.
