ABSTRACT
TiB2 is challenging to sinter high density due its low self-diffusion coefficient and melting point. Typically, metals are used as a binder phase lower the sintering temperature. In previous research, metal-TiB2 composites were prepared using SPS method at temperatures exceeding 1500°C. this study, powders of 3μm (denoted S-TiB2) 63μm L-TiB2) utilized. The mixed in proportions where L-TiB2 constituted 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% total mass. TiB2-10Ni then by 1100°C under pressure 50 MPa. At temperature, grains did not grow, contained only Ni phases. hardness with 25% can reach 2122 HV, while relative 50% exhibited 1904 composite achieved 99.6%. Observations indicated that had smaller Ni-rich areas. particles adsorbed portion Ni, inhibiting aggregation, which turn improved composites.
