ABSTRACT
To estimate the heritability for probability that yearling heifers would become pregnant, we analyzed records of 11,487 Nellore animals participated in breeding seasons at three farms Brazilian states São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul. All were exposed to a bull age about 14 mo. The pregnancy was as categorical trait, with value 1 (success) assigned diagnosed pregnant by rectal palpation 60 d after end season 90 0 (failure) those not time. heritability, obtained Method R, 0.57 standard error 0.01. EPD predicted using maximum posteriori threshold method expressed deviations from 50% probability. range -24.50 24.55%, mean 0.78% SD 7.46%. We conclude can be used select higher being fertile. However, it is mainly recommended selection bulls production precocious daughters because accuracy prediction bulls, depending on their number daughters.
