ABSTRACT
We examined the effect of time perspectives on burnout-tendencies a German sample (N = 151). used version Maslach-Burnout-Inventory (MBI-GS-D) to measure burnout three dimensions (Emotional Exhaustion, Cynicism and Personal Accomplishment) Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (ZTPI) capture individual (Past Negative, Past Positive, Present Fatalistic, Hedonistic Future). tested relationship in consisting employees an international company located Germany (n 72) with low level working-autonomy MBA students 79) high working-autonomy. The Negative Fatalistic orientations were identified as significant factors which enhance Emotional whereas orientation reduced Exhaustion. Present Hedonism decreased tendencies by enhancing Accomplishment. Contrary our initial hypothesis Future dimension did not show but had nearby reducing (and thus burnout-reducing) Therefore, seems inhibit burnout. Moreover, it was shown that deviations from Balanced (DBTP) caused increase all burnout-dimensions predicted. additionally mediator-model using perspective mediator. results indicated influence factor subsample is mediated Exhaustion Accomplishment (indirect effects). observed direct indirect effects Cynicism. findings current study are comparable previous studies health care sector there across very different occupational sectors.
