ABSTRACT
Sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.) has many beneficial health properties. In our previous study we showed suppression of hyperglycaemia, water intake, decreased sorbitol levels in the lens eyes after sea m(Hippophae treatment Zucker diabetic fatty rats (animal model type 2 diabetes mellitus, T2DM) with better antioxidant properties dried berries. Afterwards, decided to compare effects metformin (150 mg/kg b.wt.) and berries (500 or 1000 leaves infusion per os administration on liver histology (ZDF) rats. Moreover, following biochemical parameters blood serum were determined: alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), bilirubin, cholesterol triglycerides. The histological analyses revealed appearance lipid droplets within tissue ZDF which not observed non-diabetic control animals. Administration both caused a decrease number liver. rats, an increase AST, ALP, triglyceride was noticed. comparison animals, did change but only tendency reduce some obtained results suggest that fruits as well may have biological potential be used prevention metabolic diseases. Next studies are needed analyse exact mechanism action, develop promote functional food natural therapeutical products.
