Weather Vagaries and Fruit Growers Willingness to Pay for Fruit Crop Insurance in Kashmir Valley: An Exploratory Study

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, a crop protection scheme along with the government of Jammu and Kashmir was launched to save farmers/fruit growers from unexpected events occurring due bad weather on subsidised rates.The study conducted know approach behaviour fruits regarding insurance amount they are willing/ready pay for saving crop/fruit against such untoward events.Contingent valuation through willingness method used assess impact in dominant fruit growing area district Shopian valley where most cultivation is irrigation based.Present carried out sample 400 8 community blocks consisting villages 50 samples each village.The results revealed that willing Rs. 309 per kanal land as premium damages.
