ABSTRACT
Q fever is a disease of humans, caused by Coxiella burnetii, and large range animals can be infected. This paper presents review the epidemiology in humans farm between 1982 2010, using case studies from four European countries (Bulgaria, France, Germany Netherlands). The Netherlands had outbreak 2007 other history research. Within all countries, serological prevalence C. burnetii infection reported incidence varies broadly both humans. Proximity to contact with infected or their birth products have been identified as most important risk factors for human disease. Intrinsic factors, such production systems management, influence number outbreaks an area. A control options used these including measures increase diagnostic accuracy general awareness, actions reduce spillover (of humans) exposure. study highlights gaps knowledge, future research needs.
