Evaluation of Aflatoxin M1 Level in Human Breast Milk samples from Jiroft, South of Iran

ABSTRACT
Background and Objective: Human breast milk is the primary food for newborns that possess all essential nutrients their growth health.However, can be contaminated with various toxins including aflatoxin M1 (AFM1), a hydroxylated metabolite of B1 formed in liver excreted into milk.This toxin have immunosuppressive, mutagenic, teratogenic carcinogenic effects.The present study aimed to investigate level AFM1 human samples from Jiroft (Kerman Province), Iran.Methods: A total 84 were collected lactating mothers who referred number one clinic April 2016 January 2017.The was measured using commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits.Results: Aflatoxin detected (100%) within interval values 3.2 8.8 ng/L (mean, 4.1±0.7 ng/L).The lower than maximum tolerable limit (25 ng/L) suggested by EU Codex Alimentarius Commission.Conclusion: Although city Jiroft, this limit.Therefore, it seems infants are not at risk.
