ABSTRACT
This study investigated oil extraction from rice bran a by-product of gotten different sources (Afikpo, Abakaliki, and Emene). The was extracted particle sizes (150 µm, 300 420 µm) the using three solvents namely chloroform, petroleum ether, n-hexane at constant time 120 minutes via soxhlet extractor. physiochemical properties were boiling point, saponification values refractive index 77 oC, 185.130, 1.334, respectively. Also acid value, surface tension, iodine relative density found to 15.040 g, 6.966×102 N/M, 99.480, 0.779, obtained result based on source revealed that maximum yield 35.05 g achieved Abakaliki chloroform solvent size mm, whereas Emene Afikpo gave 32.62 14.18 oil, respectively same size. Again, highest volume in terms used n-hexane, descending order. physicochemical investigated, showed (RBO) above Nigeria confirms RBO be good quality can utilized many food industries after refining form additives/or industrial purposes as well generation energy.
