ABSTRACT
This was a study to compare the diagnostic efficacies of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS), CT, PET/MR imaging, and PET/CT for preoperative local regional staging esophageal cancer, with postoperative pathologic stage used as reference standard. Methods: During 1 y, 19 patients resectable cancer were enrolled underwent EUS, PET/CT, imaging. A chest radiologist nuclear medicine physician retrospectively reviewed images assigned tumor lymph node stages according seventh version TNM system American Joint Committee on Cancer system. Four who treated nonsurgically excluded from data analysis. The imaging compared. Results: Primary tumors correctly staged in 13 (86.7%), 10 (66.7%), 5 (33.3%) at respectively (P value ranging 0.021 0.375). accuracy determining T1 lesions 86.7%, 80.0%, 46.7% respectively. For distinguishing T3 lesions, 93.3% EUS 86.7% both CT. staging, 83.3%, 75.0%, 66.7%, 50.0% In addition, area-under-the-curve values 0.800, 0.700, 0.629, 0.543 Conclusion: demonstrated acceptable T compared and, although not statistically significant, even higher than prediction N staging. With adjustments protocols, may provide an important role future.
