ABSTRACT
Vitellogenin (Vg) is the precursor of yolk protein, which plays an important role in reproduction and development oviparous animals. In this study, vitellogenin1 (Vg1) from Sepiella japonica was cloned characterized, its potential function ovarian investigated. The full-length cDNAs Vg1 5853 base pair (bp) that encoded 748 amino acids. Sequence analysis revealed overall protein sequence shared 66% identity with Uroteuthis edulis. Analyses quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) showed highest expression occurred ovary. As ovary developed, increased both liver oogonia phase (I) to interstitial growth (III), reached peak value at stage III. addition, we examined effects Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) on were examined. data GnRH mRNA Vg1, indicating exogenous initially affected then influenced maturation. This study suggests might be involved cephalopods.
