ABSTRACT
Background and aim: Inappropriate use of antibiotics non-narcotic analgesics may lead to adverse side effects. This survey aimed investigate the awareness, knowledge, attitudes patients regarding dental analgesics. Material methods: The questionnaire which contained 20 questions was prepared based on similar surveys. with a validated self-administered carried out among administered Department Endodontics Marmara University. questionnaires were given from retrieved by same operator. Patients' identities remained anonymous. included about accessibility, attitude toward usage, efficacy, effects, resistance, usage for issues. Results: Of all distributed, 92.5% deemed usable. most frequently used self-medication (33%), followed (15%). respondents, 82% reported they knew correct time antibiotic use; however, only 67% them that. Most respondents (52%) quitting when believed better. frequent reasons relieve pain (35%), after root canal treatment (38%). In case swelling, 31% should take course before visit. Conclusion: revealed misuse associated many misconceptions inadequate knowledge. Also, necessity treat disease procedures unclear respondents.
