Antimicrobial Activity of Children's Toothpaste on the Bacteria Causing Dental Caries

ABSTRACT
Background and Aim:Early childhood caries is one of the most common chronic diseases in children, affecting both oral general health.Oral microorganisms are important causative agents associated with dental children.The aim this study was to compare antimicrobial activity Iranian non-Iranian children's toothpaste on growth four standard bacteria strains, including Streptococcus mutans, sanguinis, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Enterococcus faecalis. Materials Methods:In study, six types children produced by different companies were prepared.Different concentrations prepared according Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standard.The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) bactericidal (MBC) measured microbroth dilution method at ten concentrations.Results: For S. mutans bacteria, lowest MIC found Misswake, Vi-One, 2080 toothpaste.In case sanguinis L. acidophilus related Frice toothpaste, for E. faecalis MICs Misswake toothpaste.Mann-Whitney U test also revealed that activities studied not significantly from those toothpaste. Conclusion:In general, higher than non-that samples.In addition, examined lower other used toothpaste.To prevent early tooth decay use these two kinds recommended.
