ABSTRACT
Objective This study aimed to demonstrate that the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ)-8 is not less useful than PHQ-9 as a screening test for major depressive disorder (MDD). Methods We performed retrospective analysis of 567 patients in psychiatric outpatient units. The Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview was used diagnose MDD. derived validity and reliability PHQ-8 PHQ-9. To evaluate ability discriminate MDD, we drew receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves compared areas under (AUCs). Results Of participants, 207 (36.5%) were diagnosed with Cronbach's αs 0.892 0.876, respectively. Similar PHQ-9, also associated scores on Hamilton Depression Rating Scale correlation analysis. When ROC there no statistically significant difference AUCs. With cutoff score 10, showed sensitivity 58.3%, specificity 83.1%, positive predictive value 53.4%, negative 85.7%.
