ABSTRACT
The linguistic properties of the FAAF test material are expounded in relation to its objectives. It is shown from reference data that there lexical effects inherent use real-word minimal pairs rather than nonsense syllables. These word-frequency upon phonemes initial position and imageability final position. However, those not large enough undermine as an acoustical phonetically structured reflecting analysis auditory information. Normative on a range signal-to-noise ratios presented. have helped delimit subsets items best reflect variations performance under easy difficult conditions. This offers mapping percentage correct scores at one or two fixed S/N required for given level hence permits comparison with SRT(N) measures.
