ABSTRACT
Mental imagery and perceptual cues can influence subsequent visual search performance, but examination of this has been limited to low level features like colors shapes. The present study investigated how the two types low-level search, with realistic objects, executive attention. On each trial, participants were either presented a colored square or tasked using mental generate that could match target (valid trial) distractor (invalid in array followed (Experiments 1 3). In separate experiment, displayed generated was replaced object specific category appear as (Experiment 2). Although same an item display, they never perfect (e.g., jam drop cookie instead chocolate chip). Our findings revealed facilitation performance on valid trials compared invalid greater for than 1), whereas these comparable context objects 2) appears not extend resolution conflict by color-word Stroop stimuli. our understanding influences allocation
