ABSTRACT
Couple stability at younger ages is a precondition for family formation and childbearing. While there evidence that the Covid-19 crisis, bringing about major economic recession, has impacted on union in high income countries, micro-level studies dissolution are almost absent. Our explorative research provides descriptive how employment vulnerability (e.g., holding temporary occupations) associated with different chances of (intending to) breaking up before pandemic. The analyses have been conducted survey data collected April/May October/November 2021, quota samples young individuals (aged 18 to 34) Italy, France, Germany, Spain, UK. We find spills over into separation plans times European regions reporting poorly performing labour markets terms women youth unemployment). On contrary, among men less vulnerable conditions, couple negatively affected by while they report higher revise their pre-pandemic intention break-up because non-economic reasons.
