Prevalence of depression in pregnant women attending the tertiary care center of rupandehi district: A cross sectional study

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Depression during pregnancy can have serious health consequences on maternal and child health. It is one of the most prevalent mental disorders pregnancy. The study aimed to find out prevalence depression in pregnant women attending tertiary care center Nepal. Methodology: We conducted a cross-sectional among visiting Antenatal clinic Devdaha Medical College, Bhaluhi, Rupandehi, Ethical approval was obtained from Institutional Review Committee same institute. Data collected Jan 2023 June 2023.The calculated minimum required sample size 128. subjects were interviewed with Edinburgh Postnatal Scale (EPDS). Results: Prevalence found be 26.6%. Among depressed non-depressed patients there statistically significant difference planned (p<0.000), living partner currently (p<0.001), those ideas self harm (p<0.000). Conclusion: Around 26.56% population scored positive for antenatal which comparable results other lower middle-income countries. All concerned need pay attention screen depressive symptoms.
