Single dose versus multiple dose antibiotics in laparoscopic cholecystectomy: A prospective comparative single blind study

ABSTRACT
Introduction: There is a controversy on single dose or multiple doses of prophylactic antibiotics for prevention surgical site infection during laparoscopic cholecystectomy in developing country setting. The objective this study was to compare versus terms patients.
 Methods: This prospective, comparative, randomized conducted medical college hospital. Two hundred consecutive patients with symptomatic cholelithiasis planned routine were enrolled the study. Patients randomly divided Single (SD) group and (MD) group. SD given injection ceftriaxone (1gm) before induction anesthesia MD received continued total 3 postoperatively next 24 hours.
 Results: A 200 studied, which 100 (SD group) another (MD group). mean age 41.76 ± 13.38 years minimum 16 maximum 73 years. Of patients, 4 developed various severity not statistically significant. (p=0.500).
 Conclusion: no difference taking either setting Nepal.
