Calcaneal quantitative ultrasound (QUS) another low-cost instrument used prescreen subjects. aim this study was correlate between these two screening methods validate usefulness self assessment Asian ( OSTA) comparison with QUS calcaneum prediction low bone density Nepalese women. Methods: This two-year descriptive observational comprising 100 subjects performed at TU Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu, Nepal, from 2007 January 2009 completed semi structured questionnaire subsequent measurement Quantitative Ultrasound calcaneum. sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic accuracy OSTA validated T-score. Results: When category defined as ≤ -1, value t-score -2.5, specificity were 93.3%, 56.5%, 62% respectively, area under curve 0.7651. taken t score -1.0, speciÞ city 85.2%, 89.1% 87% respectively. Conclusions: index, free tool, can be estimate prevalence values women may help increase awareness prevention mineral density.
