Clinical skills models permit learners practice a skill improve their competency before performing the on live animal; however, relatively few bovine exist. This study aimed develop validate coccygeal venipuncture model rubric for teaching assessing veterinary students using validation framework consisting of content evidence, internal structure relationship with other variables evidence. Veterinary ( n = 38) experienced veterinarians 12) performed while being video recorded. Recordings were scored blindly six-item global rating score. Time perform task total number needle sticks Veterinarians reported that was suitably realistic learn evidence). Rubric scores had acceptable reliability .783, received higher used fewer complete p .033 .047, evidence—level training). Students’ survey responses very positive. The evidence collected in this supported rubric. use validated rubrics allows educators teach assess reliably, allowed repetitively, reducing animals. Additional studies would be necessary evaluate technicians, extension agents, livestock producers task.
