ABSTRACT
Abstract The melting of an ABS resin was simulated using a three-dimensional finite element simulation the two-phase flow in compression section single-screw extruder. Screw freezing experiments were also conducted to compare numerical predictions with corresponding experimental data. Numerical simulations as well exhibited Maddock mechanism and good agreement sensitivity profile various material properties processing conditions numerically analyzed. With constant rate enforced at entrance screw channel, barrel temperature found have minor effect on profile. However, these parameters significant predicted pressure along channel. When zero-traction boundary condition imposed change or affected which resulted solid fraction same cross-section.
