ABSTRACT
In Japan, RC bridges slabs constructed during the high economic growth period are suffering from severe deteriorate due to fatigue. cold and snowy regions, in addition fatigue, deterioration is accelerated aggravated simultaneously by freeze-thaw cycles water penetration simultaneously. Hence, this study, aiming at investigating combined action, three beams were artificially damaged on top surface introducing expansion agents simulate cycle damages beforehand, then subjected moving wheel load under either dry or wet condition. experiment, a scaling-off disintegration observed existence of water. Besides, facilitate elucidation mechanisms, image analysis was employed obtain displacement distributions strain side surfaces specimens test. The results clearly manifested that water-induced deteriorations lead localized compressive upper part as well detrimentally affected propagation shear bending cracks load. summary, mechanical reasons remarkably shortened fatigue life bridge loads uncovered study taking advantage strengths analysis, which also provides reference inspiration for further related studies.
