ABSTRACT
Topicality. In the current conditions of increasing anthropogenic pressure on natural resources, the issue of greening economic relations, in particular in the water use sector, is gaining particular importance. Global environmental challenges, such as climate change, depletion of water resources and environmental pollution, require a revision of traditional approaches to water resources management. The importance of this process is due to the need to ensure environmental safety, the formation of a sustainable business model and the adaptation of economic systems to global changes. In view of this, greening of economic relations in the water use sector is considered an integral element of modern concepts of social development, aimed at reducing the negative impact of economic activity on water ecosystems. Aim and tasks. The purpose of the article is to determine the essence and content of the greening of economic relations in the water use sector through the analysis of theoretical approaches, international initiatives, and the evolution of water resources management. Materials and methods. The study is based on the analysis of scientific sources, international regulatory legal acts and strategic documents regulating the greening of economic relations in the water use sector. A set of methods was used, including a systemic approach, comparative analysis and theoretical generalization. Research results. The article provides a comprehensive analysis of modern scientific approaches to the greening of the economy and identifies the features of the integration of environmental principles into the water use sector. Based on the analysis of international experience and regulatory legal acts, the key international initiatives that contributed to the development of the greening of economic relations in the water use sector are characterized. The evolution of trends that determined the development of the greening of economic relations is considered. The evolution of trends that have shaped the development of the greening of economic relations has been examined. The key characteristics, challenges, and outcomes of each stage in the evolution of trends in the greening of economic relations in the water use sector have been identified. Conclusion. Based on the analysis of modern approaches to the development of economic relations in the water use sector under the influence of the global greening of the economy, it has been proposed a definition of the greening of economic relations in the water use sector. This concept is defined as the systematic integration of environmental principles and approaches into all aspects of economic activities related to water resource utilization, aiming to ensure the harmonious coexistence of the economy and natural ecosystems. It has been proven that this process enhances environmental sustainability, increases the social responsibility of economic entities, and facilitates adaptation to global challenges. Furthermore, it has been established that the development of the greening of economic relations reflects a gradual transition from a resource-intensive economy that neglects environmental aspects to a sustainable blue economy, which ensures a balance between economic growth, social well-being, and the preservation of water ecosystems.
