ABSTRACT
Object. Capillary hemangiomas are benign tumors or tumorlike lesions that originate from blood vessels and have rarely been reported to develop in the brain spinal cord. The authors summarize clinical histological features of capillary central nervous system (CNS). Methods. features, imaging characteristics, outcomes 10 patients with CNS were reviewed. Histological studies included immunostaining CD31, α-smooth muscle actin, vascular endothelial growth factor, Ki-67 antigen. Three presented symptoms increased intracranial pressure seizures. Seven cord progressive sensorimotor disturbances lower limbs. Computerized tomography magnetic resonance demonstrated well-defined, enhancing associated marked perifocal edema. Angiography hypervascular lesions, which not recurred after resection. In two cases, multiple satellite resolved systemic administration steroid drugs interferon-α. Histologically, all consistent findings hemangioma skin soft tissues. differed significantly other neoplasms, such as hemangioendotheliomas, hemangiopericytomas, hemangioblastomas. Conclusions. can be surgically removed cured without adjuvant therapy.
