Water losses in water supply and distribution systems have been a serious problem Turkey all over the world causing economic costs environmental drawbacks. Total is summation of real (physical) apparent (commercial) losses. Main activities to reduce include digitizing components network using Geographical Information Systems (GIS), dividing large networks (WDNs) into District Metered Areas (DMAs), monitoring, carrying out yearly balance, hydraulic modelling, pressure management, active leakage control, recording consumption users, reducing meter errors illegal consumption.
