ABSTRACT
Blastomyces spp. fungi, the causal agent of blastomycosis, are common in North America but do occur other areas world. The most prevalent pathogen genus is B. dermatitidis. Most dermatitidis isolates originate from America, there sporadic reports recovery Africa and Asia. High-quality that incorporate genetic information about fungus outside have been rare. Genome sequencing 3 fungal patients India with chronic respiratory diseases revealed belong to a genetically differentiated lineage Because had no history traveling Asia, blastomycosis was likely autochthonously acquired, which suggests local population Our results suggest endemic range larger than previously thought, calling for reassessment geographic different agents mycoses.
