Infection Prevention and Control in Correctional Settings

ABSTRACT
Correctional facilities house millions of residents in communities throughout the United States. Such congregate settings are critical for national infection prevention and control (IPC) efforts. Carceral can be sites where infectious diseases detected patient populations who may not otherwise have access to health care services, as highlighted by COVID-19 pandemic, outbreaks result spread residents, correctional staff, community at large. IPC, while sharing commonalities with IPC other settings, is unique programmatically operationally. In this article, we identify common challenges program implementation recommend action steps advancing a public priority.
