Competency Recommendations for Advancing Nursing Informatics in the Next Decade: International Survey Results

ABSTRACT
The IMIA-NIstudents' and emerging professionals' working group conducted a large international survey in 2015 regarding research trends nursing informatics. was translated into half-a-dozen languages distributed through 18 collaborators' professional connections. focused on the perspectives of nurse informaticians. A total 272 participants responded to an open ended question concerning recommendations advance Five key areas for action were identified our thematic content analysis: education, research, practice, visibility collaboration. This chapter discusses these results with implications competency development. We propose how components various lists might support action. also identify room further develop existing guidelines in-service education practicing nurses, promote informatics visibility, or improve facilitate collaboration integration other professions.
