Two specimens of the deep–sea fish Tetragonurus cuvieri Risso, 1810 and Notacanthus bonaparte 1840 were captured in Gulf Cadiz on January 2023 at a depth 14.15 m March 532 m, respectively. The identity was verified using both morphological genetic criteria. In this study, we compile information global occurrences these two deep–see species, they are uncommonly observed shallow waters Iberian Peninsula. It highlights importance conducting further research to understand full range species inhabiting waters. presence can provide insights into environmental conditions specific habitats within Cádiz, as often associated with particular ranges oceanographic features.
