ABSTRACT
Mental imagery has long been part of cognitive behavioural therapies. More recently, a resurgence interest emerged for prospective mental imagery, i.e. future-directed imagery-based thought, and its relation to reward processing, motivation behaviour in the context depression. We conducted selective review on role impact processing reward-motivated depression.Based current literature, we propose conceptual mechanistic model imagery. Prospective engaging positive activities can increase anticipation motivation, which transfer increased engagement more experiences reward, thereby decreasing depressive symptoms. We suggest directions future research using multimodal assessments measure from basic functioning lab real-world clinical implementation.Prospective potential improve treatment depression where aim is behaviours. Future should investigate how exactly whom works.
