ABSTRACT
AimTo investigate stroke characteristics in patients with concomitant coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection Croatia during the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.MethodsThis retrospective study investigated two groups ischemic patients: those who developed before and hospital stay after onset. Stroke etiology was classified according to Trial Org 10172 Acute Treatment (TOAST) classification.ResultsWe analyzed data from 255 12 Croatian hospitals. The differed (P = 0.038). Patients had fewer cardioembolic strokes (46% vs 29.1%), more cryptogenic (32.5% 14.3%), multiple vascular territories (12.4% 1.8%). percentage large-vessel occlusions high both (49.6% 44.4%). Median modified Rankin Scale score on discharge 4 groups. Mortality 36.4% group 33.3% stroke.ConclusionIschemic differs complicated by infection. Both patient are characterized severe disability mortality. Raising awareness prehospital optimization clinical workflow important if we want improve outcomes acute recanalization techniques.
