ABSTRACT
Clinical studies on neuromodulation intervention for trigeminal neuralgia have not yet shown promising results. This might be due to the fact that pathophysiology of chronic neuropathy is fully understood. Chronic includes autonomic neuropathy, painful and persistent idiopathic facial pain. disorder caused by complex abnormalities in pain processing system, which comprised affective, emotional, sensory components, rather than mere abnormal sensation. Therefore, integrative understanding system necessary appropriate neuropathy. The possible targets participate are as follows : ventral posterior medial nucleus, periaqueductal gray, motor cortex, nucleus accumbens, subthalamic globus pallidus internus, anterior cingulate hypothalamus, sphenopalatine ganglion, occipital nerve. In conclusion, interventions elucidated; future advancements this area required.
