ABSTRACT
Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) is the most common complication of acute herpes zoster. The treatment PHN remains a challenge for clinical pain management. Despite effectiveness anticonvulsants, antidepressants, and lidocaine patches in reducing PHN, many patients still face intractable disorders. In this randomized controlled study, we evaluated whether hydromorphone through intravenous patient-controlled analgesia (IV PCA) was effective relieving PHN. Patients with were randomly divided into two groups, one group received oral pregabalin IV normal saline, another additional PCA weeks. Efficacy at 1, 4, 12 weeks after end treatments. Two hundred followed up After treatment, numerical rating scale (NRS) score significantly lower than that control group, difference NRS scores between groups statistically significant 4 treatment. frequency breakthrough 1 quality sleep improved compared group. adverse reactions dizziness nausea, no respiratory depression. combined provides superior relief which worthy application promotion.
