ABSTRACT
Moyamoya disease is characterized by progressive cerebrovascular occlusion at the peripheral internal carotid artery and development of abnormal collateral circulation cerebral basal region. Although thrombogenesis, inflammation autoimmune process might be involved in etiology, genetic pathogenesis still unknown. To evaluate association with HLA alleles Korean population, we investigated class I II 28 patients 198 unrelated healthy controls. The frequency HLA-B35 allele was significantly increased compared to controls (32.1% vs. 10.1%, RR=4.2, p<0.008). Further analysis on onset age sex showed that this both late-onset female group. Especially, most group These results suggest may an useful marker for disease, particularly females late population.
