ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to explore the geometrical changes of mitral annulus during systole. The 3D shape reconstructed in 13 normal subjects who had structure apparatus using real-time echocardiography (RT3DE) and computer software. The two orthogonal (antero-posterior commissure-commissure) dimensions, areas (2D projected surface) non-planarity were estimated early, mid late systole. We demonstrated that MA a "saddle shape" appearance it consistently enlarged mainly antero-posterior direction from early systole with lessening its non-planarity, as determined by reconstruction RT3DE software.
