Clinical Characteristics of 40 Patients Infected With the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron Variant in Korea

ABSTRACT
Since severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2 variant B.1.1.529 (omicron) was first reported to the World Health Organization on November 24, 2021, cases of omicron have been detected in more than 90 countries over last month. We investigated clinical and epidemiological characteristics 40 patients with who had isolated at National Medical Center South Korea during December 4-17, 2021. The median age 39.5 years. Twenty-two (55%) were women. Seventeen (42.5%) fully vaccinated, none reinfected omicron. Eighteen (45%) recent international travel history. Half (19, 47.5%) asymptomatic, while others mild symptoms. Six (15%) showed lung infiltrations chest image; however, required supplemental oxygen. These features are consistent case reports from other countries.
