ABSTRACT
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the commonest demyelinating condition of nervous system. It characterized by numerous areas or plaques demyelination which are found dispersed throughout has been shown that MS less frequent in tropical regions than subtropical regions. In Latin America particularly, there some studies show this phenomenon. However, Colombia no prevalence have done.To determine multiple five provinces (Antioquia, Caldas, Santander, Risaralda and Bolivar).The capture-recapture method was used for two sources to number cases defined on criteria Poser et al seen between July 1995 June 2000.The (cases per 100,000 inhabitants) varied 1.48 Antioquia (95% CI 1.12; 1.78) 4.98 3.52; 6.43). Seventy percent were women. The included study represented 25% population Colombia.There a low as expected areas. Persons with these may be very useful other factors involved aetiology (genetic). an excellent tool carrying out since it cheap requires little time.
