ABSTRACT
Sialylation aberration has been implicated in lung cancer development by altering signaling pathways. Hence, it is urgent to identify key sialyltransferases the of adenocarcinoma (LUAD), which a common malignant subtype non-small cell cancer. Herein, systematically investigating expression levels ST3GAL family members several public databases, we consistently found frequent downregulation ST3GAL6 LUAD samples. Its significantly negatively associated with stage, and reduced proximal-proliferative molecular predicts poor clinical outcomes. By protein-protein interaction network analysis validation, that deficiency promotes invasiveness activated EGFR/MAPK signaling, accompanied elevated matrix metalloproteinases 2 9, can be partially reversed EGFR inhibitor, gefitinib. Additionally, level was positively regulated ST3GAL6-AS1, an antisense long non-coding RNA its host gene. The ST3GAL6-AS1 also heralds worse prognosis patients invasiveness, recapitulating function gene, ST3GAL6. Altogether, ST3GAL6-AS1-regulated frequently downregulated sialyltransferase regulates serve as promising independent prognostic marker patients.
