ABSTRACT
Anticipatory action is an approach that combines early warning information with flexible, pre-positioned funds to trigger actions mitigate the impact of predictable shocks on most vulnerable people. Historically, drought climatic hazard led highest and severe humanitarian impacts in Sahel. This region, according climate projections, will be one deeply affected by change future years, leading considerable changes societies, economies, as well impacting rural communities. While this negative projection may lead further increases consequences, recent experiences from integrating anticipatory for into practice hold positive prospects. article review current Sahel shed light whether has brought innovation local disaster risk management. Through initiatives Burkina Faso, Chad Niger, paper highlights key advancements gaps challenges pertaining components management, namely: (1) data, analysis warning; (2) funding; (3) preparedness community engagement; (4) learning, coordination partnership; (5) policies institutional frameworks. Even challenging environments like Sahel, can become integral component standard management financing strategies. However, process require more robust evidence about which ingredients approaches desired result.
